• Microsoft Academic - Searches scholarly publications using a semantic approach rather than keywords.
• RefSeek - Aims to prioritize information for student research, indexing both scholarly and popular sources.  
• WolframAlpha - Ready reference search tool that uses natural language or math input, supporst browsing across range of topic areas. Basic account is free.
