Assignment Overview

Research Purpose: To explore what the promises of civil liberties and equal protection really mean. Picking a topic from the Bill of Rights or one concerning equal protection, students will conduct research in order to write a substantive paper, create a poster, and prepare an oral presentation. Topic coverage will include a historical overview, an analysis of the Supreme Court interpretations and controversies, and a discussion of increasing compassion and empathy for the topic in American society.

  • may include books, articles and reference material from the library and            library databases
  • websites linked from the LibGuide
  • No general encyclopedias, Wikipedia, or ASK.com

Citations-- 

  • footnotes must be formatted correctly in Chicago/Turabian Notes/Bibliography style
  • all papers must include a Bibliography in Chicago/Turabian style
  • an annotated bibliography is required for Assignment 1
  • all sources and citations must be organized in NoodleTools
