Assignment Overview

Mrs. Edwards' Assignment Handout

Research Purpose:

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November annually in the United States. Typically, families gather together to share in a traditional meal, celebrating and giving thanks for the blessings of the year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth (Plimoth) and the Wampanoag people. Many myths and legends have grown up around the "first Thanksgiving story." You will research the rich legend, symbolism, and history  to uncover the true story of the holiday.
