What is a database?

What is a library database?

A library database is a searchable electronic index of reliable reference resources.

Library databases are not available for free online. The information found in library databases is sometimes called the "deep web" or "hidden web" because you must pay for access.

Library databases include a wealth of useful resources from reference books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and more. The information found in library databases is either originally created or comes from a variety of trustworthy sources.

Woodward Academy pays for access to many different databases to enhance the quality of student research. To use the databases, you must either be on campus or log in with a username and password found here.

Why use databases?

Try these search terms: [thanksgiving] or [plymouth colony]

Explora Secondary

The Explora interface searches across all of the EBSCO databases we provide.

Try these search terms for the Topic Overview: [thanksgiving] or [wampanoag] or  [squanto] or [massasoit AND thanksgiving]
