Podcasting Guides and Tips

Step-by-step guidance:

Success Tips from the Veteran Podcaster of Footnoting History!

Dr. Burbridge, former faculty member at WA,  has a tremendous amount of experience with podcasting. Listen to some of her podcast productions on: Footnoting History.

Here are some of her tips for success:

  1. Write a script and not just an outline for what you want to say. This will help make your final product cleaner.
  2. Download Audacity-- it's free and can be used on Mac or PC (https://www.buzzsprout.com/blog/audacity-podcast-tutorial)
  3.  Use a condenser mic  to get better sound quality. The Carlos Library has a vocal booth and condenser mics that can be checked out or used in the library. (You can also just record with your computer's built-in mic.)
  4. If you are recording at home without a condenser mic, consider sitting in a clothes closet or homemade blanket tent to record and limit echoing.
  5. Export as a MP3 file and upload it to wherever your teacher would like.
