Research Overview

Research Purpose: You will explore the legacy and impact of one of the most influential figures of the last 500 years. You will be assigned one of twelve important people to research in depth, culminating in a written paper and video presentation.

 

Topic Coverage: Explain how your assigned historical figure fundamentally shaped world history through their actions, ideas, or innovations. Your presentation and paper should examine how their contributions transformed both their immediate sphere of influence and the broader course of human history. You should investigate at least three ways in which they influenced the course of history.

 

Research Requirements::

Minimum of three sources, maximum of five:

  • At least two must be books
  • Articles from a library database are recommended
  • Other sources may include websites--sites not linked from the WA LibGuides require submission of the website evaluation form and approval of your teacher via email
  • You may NOT cite any general encyclopedias--World Book, Britannica, or Wikipeda

Project Elements:

1. Slide show with videotaped oral presentation

  • Presentation length of 3.5-5 minutes
  •  Maximum of 8 slides

2. Paper

  • Length of 3-5 pages
  • Footnotes in Chicago/Turabian style
  • Final bibliography in Chicago/Turabian style
