Research Process: Citation Help

CITATIONS

Documentation of all sources used in research projects is important.  You must give proper credit to the authors of any sources used.  It is plagiarism if you do not give credit to the authors for their ideas or images.  

Cite your sources!

Different citation styles may be used by different academic departments.  At Woodward Academy the English department uses the MLA format. The Social Studies department uses Turabian or Chicago style.The Science department uses the APA style.  There are different citation tools available to help generate citations in the proper format.

NoodleTools uses Google Sign On. WA Google account.

Option 2: Sign in to your Woodward GMail account or Google Drive. Look under the Google "waffle" menu button on the upper right corner of the screen. Scroll down and click the NoodleTools button.

Shared NoodleTools Project

To create a shared NoodleTools project for group work:

One person in the group should do the following--

  1. Create a NoodleTools project
  2. Go to the project's Dashboard page
  3. Scroll down to "Student collaboration" under "Sharing and collaboration"
  4. Click +Add students
  5. Enter the other group members WA email addresses
  6. When group members login to NoodleTools, they will see the project on their project page 

PHOTO CITATION

If you add a photograph or image to your research project, you must also give a citation for the image. Bbritannica Image Quest provides a database of 

Britannica ImageQuest automatically creates a citation for every photograph.

1.Click on desired image

2.Click "Cite"

3.Select Citation Style

4. Copy/paste as a caption under the image, or add the citation to a separate alphabetical list for "Image Sources."
